Kathryn M. Lumb is a founder of Northeast Intellectual Property. She is a strategically focused senior in house attorney with almost 20 years of diverse experience and knowledge in protecting Intellectual Property assets and minimizing risk.


Kathryn’s previous experience includes Chief Intellectual Property Officer at Elan Pharmaceuticals. As a member of the senior legal team and lead IP attorney for the company, she had responsibility for all patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret matters world-wide, including counseling, diligence and litigation.

Before joining Elan, Kathryn spent eight years at Pfizer, where she held increasingly senior positions within the Legal Division. In her most recent position, Kathryn led a group in Cambridge, MA of ten attorneys/agents and support staff as an Associate General Counsel. Her group managed all patent matters of multiple therapeutic areas, supported biologics and small molecules in the areas of metabolic diseases, inflammation and immunology, tissue repair, hemophilia, orphan and rare diseases, biotherapeutic technologies, and oligonucleotide-based therapies, as well as manufacturing and process development.

Prior to her in-house experience, Kathryn worked at two leading IP boutique law firms in New York, NY and Chicago, IL.
